A Lake George Wedding: Lauren & John Naylor

Last night’s wedding was so much fun! We had a gas. Lauren and John were so great to work with, and it felt like I knew half the people that came as guests. Even ran into Sandy and Dave Mcguirk, a couple whose wedding I photographed over 20 years ago. My good friend, photographer Susan Blackburn was my second shooter. She always does a great job. The reception was exquisite…a Lake George wedding at The Inn at Erlowest is always spectacular. The place looked great and the food, wonderful…

Why go to a wedding consultation ?

I have been photographing wedding for many years. One of the best piece of advice I can give you is to have a consultation with your photographer, florest, caterer, DJ, before you book them.

If you live out of town,  a phone call, better yet, SKYPE.

Make sure you see that persons work from ONE wedding. You can see the consistency of his or her work. If someone shows you an album and all the photos are from different wedding. Shit, that’s easy…  One wedding from beginning to end. I can show you 800 images in less the 10 mins. You don’t have to analyze them, just look, what’s your 1st impression of the overall images.

Also, go over all the details with your venders 1 week before the wedding, and if picked the right people, relax & enjoy your wedding day. This is a very special day for all family members. Don’t take a chance. Do your homework.

Before & After Portraits

I have been a professional photographer for 30 years. I started out using film, and as the industry changed, so did I. I have taken classes on many different software programs, and have learned that the photographs that come out of a digital camera have to be adjusted, whether it’s for contrast, color, exposure, etc.  Film also need all of these adjustments. Unless you know this, you can’t fully recognize the unique potential that each image possesses, and the before and after portraits can be breathtaking.

Here are just a few images that you can see what I’ve done to improve what you get from my photography.

Architectural Photography Before and After

Here are a few architectural photography before and after shots – photographs of some indoor & outdoor projects that I worked on over this past year.

As a professional photographer in the Adirondacks, I get many calls from Bed & Breakfast owners, Lake George resorts, and realtors to photograph their properties for their websites. I may use  up to 8 images to make one impressive photo. Although some other photographers may use the same technique, I thought of this on my own.

The Vase Photo

I was at a friends house last week, and as we were talking I saw this photograph hanging on the wall. Paul likes to talk about photography, and we began discussing the image. So, of course since he’s my friend, I told him  “Hey – I’ve been a professional photographer for 32 years and I do commercial photography also. Let me me show you a really great photo.”

In the dining room, there were two windows, about 3 feet apart. We set the table 2 feet away from the wall and centered the table between the windows. We positioned the vase in the middle of the table, took the shots, and voilà!

I didn’t have any gobo’s to work with, so I resorted to applying some Photoshop techniques to the image. (By the way, we used his camera, not mine. Goes to show you,   “It’s not the car, it’s the driver”!)

What do you think?

A wedding in the Adirondacks is the stuff of dreams, but it can seem far off when a foot of snow blankets the ground and you are scraping ice off your windshield in the dark. But with February just around the corner, it’s time to find an Adirondack or Lake George wedding photographer for your once-in-a-lifetime event…

As a seasoned photographer of numerous Adirondack and Lake George wedding venues, my passion is capturing irreplaceable, vividly candid photos at breathtaking locations such as the Sagamore in Bolton Landing NY; The Copperfield in North Creek NY; the Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid NY; or the Inn at Saratoga in Saratoga Springs NY for the last 30 years.

I went home to Buffalo for my brothers 60th surprise birthday party. We had a great time. while I was waiting for the party to begin, the light was just beautiful in my sisters garden. So I asked some of my nieces & nephews to stand in this one place, as you can see, they came out really nice.
